Cefpodoxime Proxetil IP
to Cefpodoxime 100mg
Excipients                         q.s.
Colour: Titanium Dioxide I.P.

Description / Action: 

Petocef Dry Syrup contains Cefpodoxime is a third generation cephalosporin oral antibiotic. When intravenous cephalosporins like (Ceftriaxone) are no longer required for continuing treatment, it is also helpful as oral continuation medication. Its mode of action is by inhibiting cell wall synthesis.

Indication / Uses:

For the treatment of

• Urinary tract infections
• Skin infections
• Respiratory infections

Dosage and administration:

5mg-10mg per kg body weight to be administered orally, once a day for 4 to 5 days.

Direction for Reconstitution:

Boil water, let it cool, then gently pour in the cooled water until the bottle’s ring mark is reached. Shake vigorously. Adjust the volume upto the ring mark by adding more water if necessary. This makes 30ml of the suspension. The prepared suspension should be stored in cool & dry place at a temperature between 2°C to 6°C. use within four days of preparation.

Over-dosage / Side effects / Contraindications /Warnings:

Common side effects like hypersensitivity and GI upset can be observed in some pets.

Store in a cool, dry & dark place below 25°C Keep the container tightly closed. Keep out of reach of children.

Shake well before use. Not for human use. For animal treatment only.
