Each film-coated Cef – DP tablet contains:

Cefpodoxime proxetil  IP    equivalent to 100 / 200 mg Cefpodoxime

Description / Action: 

Cef – DP 100 mg / 200 mg Tablets contain cefpodoxime proxetil a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. It is effective against most Gram-positive and Gram negative bacteria. It works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. Cefpodoxime’s long half-life allows for once-daily dosing, which can result in increased compliance and better clinical outcomes. It is effective in treating skin infections (wounds and abscesses) in dogs. Cef-DP film-coated tablets improve stability, easier administration.

Indication / Uses:

Cef – DP tablets are indicated for/in
• Skin infections (wounds and abscesses),
• Respiratory tract infection,
• Urogenital tract infections &
• Gastrointestinal infections

Dosage and administration:

5 – 10 mg/kg body weight, administer orally

Frequency:

Every 24 hours for 5 to 7 days or for 2 to 3 days beyond the cessation of clinical signs,
Discontinue if the response is not seen within 3 to 4 days

Overdoses / Side effects / Contraindications /Warnings:

Do not use in pets having a history of hypersensitivity for Cefpodoxime or other cephalosporins. Use with caution in patients having a renal disease (dose adjustment may be needed). May cause GI disturbance as the most common adverse effect/side effect.  Overdose related side effects have not been mentioned by the manufacturer. In case of accidental overdosing consult your veterinarian immediately.
