Description / Action: 

Pawxy 100 / 200 mg tablets contain cefpodoxime proxetil. It has an ideal pharmacokinetic profile for an oral time-dependent cepholosporin. Long half life of cefpodoxime allows for once-daily dosing; it can result in increased oral administration compliance in dogs and better clinical outcomes.

Class: Antibiotics (Cephalosporin 3^rd generation)

Indication / Uses:

• Skin infections (wounds and abscesses) caused by suseptible strains of Staphylococcus intermedius, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus canis (Group G, Beta-hemolytic), Escherchia coli, Pasteurella multocida & Proteus mirabilis.
• Respiratory tract infections
• Surgical interventions

Dosage and administration / Directions for use:

5  – 10 mg/kg. Total daily dose

 Over-dosage / Side effects / Contraindications /Warnings:

Unlike other cephalosporins commonly reported side effects are gastro-intestinal signs like vomiting, reduced appetite and diarrhoea occasionally. It may also cause allergic reactions in sensitized animals.

Safety in breeding dogs, pregnant or lactating female dogs has not been demonstrated.
