Phos-clear Powder

Phos-clear is for the management of phosphatemia or increased serum phosphorus levels in dogs and cats suffering from chronic kidney disease or CKD. Persistent hyperphosphatemia along with calcitriol deficiency leads to secondary hyperparathyroidism. Phos-clear helps to control hyperphosphatemia by reducing phosphorus absorption from the intestine hence plays its part in controlling the development of secondary hyperparathyroidism.

Description / Action:

Phos-clear is for the management of phosphatemia or increased serum phosphorus levels in dogs and cats suffering from chronic kidney disease or CKD. Persistent hyperphosphatemia along with calcitriol deficiency leads to secondary hyperparathyroidism. Phos-clear helps to control hyperphosphatemia by reducing phosphorus absorption from the intestine hence plays its part in controlling the development of secondary hyperparathyroidism.

Calcitriol deficiency leads to negative feedback on the parathyroid gland and persistent hyperphosphatemia leads to hypocalcemia; both result in continuous stimulation of the parathyroid gland and secondary hyperparathyroidism. Secondary hyperparathyroidism leads to metabolic bone diseases, kidney disease, cardiac problems, uremic anemia, reduced carbohydrate metabolism, and immunological response.

Class: Phosphate Binder ⎥ Renal / Kidney Supplement

Indication / Uses:

Phos-clear has Evidence-based Clinical Applications
• In reducing serum phosphorus level like in CKD
• In cases of renal secondary hyperparathyroidism

Aluminium hydroxide has advantages over calcium-based phosphorus binders
• Better phosphorus binding capacity
• Binds phosphorus in a wider range of gut pH
• Helps to reduce PTH and Alkaline phosphatase more effectively
• No additional risk of hypercalcemia and no acceleration of vascular calcification

Phosclear is an ideal choice to start calcitriol therapy in CKD

Dosage and administration:

Phos-clear can be given in dogs and cats @ 2 level scoop / 5 kg per day

Serum phosphorus level                 Phos-clear dosage
