Praziquantel                                      20 mg
Pyrantel Pamoate                             230 mg

Description / Action: 

Kiwof cat tablets have two active ingredients having different modes of action and spectra of activity. Praziquantel is active against cestodes (tapeworms). Praziquantel is absorbed, metabolized in the liver and excreted in the bile. After entering in the digestive tract from the bile, cestocidal activity is exhibited. After getting exposure to praziquantel, the tapeworm loses its ability to resist digestion by the mammalian host. Because of this, whole tapeworms, including the scolices, are very rarely passed after administration of praziquantel. It is observed that in many instances only disintegrated and partially digested pieces of tapeworms will be seen in the stool. That’s why the majorities of tapeworms are digested and are not found in the faeces.

Pyrantel pamoate is active against hookworms and ascarids. It acts on the cholinergic receptors of the nematode resulting in spastic paralysis. Peristaltic action of the intestinal tract then eliminates the parasite.

Indication / Uses:

Kiwof cat tablets are indicated for the treatment and control of Hookworms (Ancylostoma tubaeforme, Ancyclostoma brazilense, Uncinaria stenocephala), Roundworms (Toxocara cati, Toxocara leonina), and Tapeworms (Diphylidium caninum, Taenia taeniaformis) in cats.

Dosage and administration:

½ tablet – 2 kg bodyweight

1 tablet – 2.1 to 4 kg bodyweight

1 ½ tablet – 4 to 6 kg bodyweight

For oral administration only.

Kiwof tablets can be given directly to the cat or with the food. No starvation is needed before or after treatment. Tablets can be divided and can be given according to body weight.

Not intended for use in kittens less than 6 weeks of age.

Frequency:

Treat at the age of 6, 8, 10, and 12 weeks of age and then at monthly intervals until 6 months of age. For routine control of worms and deworming in cats, it should be repeated every 3 months. For routine treatment a single dose is recommended or as advised by a veterinarian.

Overdoses / Side effects / Contraindications /Warnings:

In rare cases, mild vomiting and salivation may occur. In some cases, temporary loss of appetite and loose stool has been reported. Always use the recommended doses. In case of accidental overdosing immediately consult your veterinarian.

It should not be used simultaneously with compounds containing piperazine (causes neuromuscular paralysis of worms).

Avoid using in cats having hepatic or liver issues. Consult your veterinarian if your cat is undergoing any treatment or medication for any disease.

Pharmaceutical precautions / Instructions: 

Store in a cool and dry place.

Safety: Age / Pregnancy/ Withdrawal:

Should not be used in kittens less than 6 weeks of age.

It can be combined with other treatments, for example, flea and tick treatment, vaccination.

Do not use in pregnant queens/cats.

Always follow the recommendations and do not exceed recommended doses. It has no withdrawal side effects.
