The Common Types of Uroliths in Your Pets
Struvite
Calcium oxalate monohydrate
Ammonium urate
Calcium oxalate dihyrate
Silica
Cystine
Struvite stones, or magnesium ammonium phosphate stones, commonly develop in the urinary tracts of pets, especially dogs and cats.
Struvite stones often form in alkaline urine and are associated with specific types of bacteria that can increase urine pH.
AGROPYRENE
Demulcent
Crystalization inhibition
Anti inflammatory
Antibiotic
INOSITOL
Prevents crystal deposition
SALICILIC ACID
Soothes the mucus membrane
Reduces irritation to urinary tract
Relives painful urination
TRITICIN POTASSIUM SALT
Diuretic
Rapid elimination of crystals
Regulates urine pH
Mechanism of UTI and Struvite Crystal Formation
Bacteria can attach & proliferate
Urinary tract infection (UTI) with urease-producing organism
Urea cleavage produces.
Bicarbonates (increases urine pH).
Ammonia (constituent of struvite)
Increased pH decreases struvitesolubility-crystal formulation more likely.
Ammonia damages protective bladder lining (glycosaminoglycans)
