Description / Action: 

Carodyl 100, Carodyl 75, Carodyl 25 contains carprofen. Carprofen preferentially inhibits the COX-2 enzyme and limits the production of prostaglandins involved in the inflammation. It possesses antipyretic, anti-inflammatory, and analgesic activity. It is an NSAID of the propionic acid class that includes ibuprofen, ketoprofen etc. Metabolism of carprofen takes place in the liver and excreted in bile.

Class: NSAID (Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) 

Indication / Uses:

Carodyl 100, Carodyl 75, Carodyl 25 / Carprofen is indicated in the dogs for

– Treatment and relief of pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis
– To control of postoperative pain associated with soft tissue.
– Control of post operative pain associated with orthopaedic surgeries in dogs.

Dosage and administration:

The recommended dosage for administration in dogs older than 6 weeks is 4 mg/kg of the bodyweight once daily or divided as 2 mg/kg body weight twice daily.

It is for oral administration only.

Overdoses / Side effects / Contraindications /Warnings:

Overdose may result in serious side effects and GI signs like vomiting, diarrhoea, fecal occult blood, dark or tarry stools, loss of appetite. Gastrointestinal signs may occur after the administration of carprofen like other NSAIDs. Stop the therapy if this persists beyond 1 or 2 days.

Do not use in dehydrated, hypovolemic or hypotensive patients or those who are having GI disease or blood clotting abnormalities.

Do not use carprofen in combination with steroids. At least keep 24 hours gap as they are more potent ulcerogenic when used concurrently.

An appropriate wash-out period should be considered before switching between NSAIDs or Steroids to avoid complications or any adverse effects.

Not recommended for cats by the manufacturer.

Pharmaceutical precautions / Instructions: 

Store in a cool and dry place at room temperature or below 30°C. Protect from light. Keep reach out of the children and dogs. Strictly for veterinary use.

Safety: Age / Pregnancy/ Withdrawal:

Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to any active substance or excipients. Do not use in dogs having cardiac, renal, or hepatic issues. Age-specific restrictions, safety for breeding and lactating animals have not been instructed. Safety in animals less than 6 weeks of age has not been established.

Always follow the recommended dose. It has no reported withdrawal side effects.
