CarTail Oral Spray is indicated for the relief of pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis and for the control of post operative pain associated with soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries in dogs.

Dosage and administration:

Each spray (0.2ml) contains 20mg carprofen. Recommended dose is 1 spray/4.5kg body weight once a day or as directed by the veterinarian (4.4mg carprofen/kg body weight). Due to pump size, dogs weighing less than 4.5kg cannot be accurately dosed. To be administered with food.

Over-dosage / Side effects / Contraindications /Warnings:

Use with caution if there is known hypersensitivity to the active ingredient or any of the excipients. Do not use in dogs with cardiac, hepatic, or renal disorders. Do not exceed the recommended dose.

Since safety has not been proven in dogs with bleeding disorders, Cartail is not advised for usage in dogs who have bleeding disorders (such as Von Willebrand’s disease).

Before beginning NSAIDS therapy, all dogs should go through a complete history and physical examination. Prior to and frequently throughout the administration of any NSAIDS, appropriate laboratory tests to establish baseline haematological and serum biochemical data should be taken into consideration. Owners should be instructed to keep an eye out for symptoms of possible drug toxicity. In the event that humans accidentally ingest the preparation, consult with a physician.

For oral use in dogs only. Do not use in cats.

Alternative analgesia should be taken into consideration if further pain medication is necessary after taking the recommended daily dose of carprofen. It isn’t recommended to use another NSAID. When transitioning from one NSAID to another or from corticosteroid use to NSAID use, take into account the proper washout intervals.

Typical undesirable effects associated with NSAIDS, such as vomiting, soft faeces/diarrhea, fecal occult blood, loss of appetite and lethargy have been reported. No clinically significant adverse reactions have been reported. If adverse reaction occurs, use of the product should be stopped and the advice of a veterinarian should be sought.

Pharmaceutical precautions / Instructions: 

Store in a cool and dry place away from light and moisture, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children and pets. Not for human use. For treatment of animals only.

Safety: Age / Pregnancy/ Withdrawal:

Reported studies in unanesthetized dogs and clinical field trials have demonstrated that Carprofen is well tolerated in dogs after oral administration.

The safe use of carprofen in animals less than 6 weeks of age, pregnant dogs, dogs used for breeding purposes, or in lactating bitches has not been established. Do not use in pregnant or lactating bitches.
