Promicef tazo injection contains ceftriaxone and tazobactum. Ceftriaxone is an antibiotic of the third-generation cephalosporin group. Ceftriaxone has both gram-negative and gram-positive activities. Not absorbed after oral administration. Ceftriaxone crosses the placental barrier but no adverse effect to offsprings has been noted. Ceftriaxone level is much higher in CSF in case of meningitis. Tazobactum is useful in case of B-lactamase resistant bacterial infections.

Ingredients & Composition:

Each Promicef Injection Vial contains
Ceftriaxone Sodium IP equivalent to Ceftriaxone          500 mg
Tazobactam sodium equivalent to Tazobactam USP     62.5 mg

• Respiratory tract infection
• Bacterial dermatological infections
• Urinary tract infections
• Bone and Joint infections
• Bacterial septicaemia
• Intra-abdominal infection
• Meningitis
• Surgical prophylaxis

Dosage and administration:

Ceftriaxone Tazobactum / Promicef Tazo injection can be given @15-25 mg/kg every 24 hours

Route: Intramuscular, Intravenous, Subcutaneous

Species: Dogs and cats

Overdoses / Side effects / Contraindications /Warnings:

Overdose can be monitored and treated symptomatically.

Dogs/ cats hypersensitive to cephalosporins may show an adverse reaction on administration. Do not use in pets having a known history of allergic reaction towards ceftriaxone.

Pharmaceutical precautions / Instructions: 

Store in a cool and dry place at room temperature or below 25°C. Protect from light. Strictly for veterinary use.

Safety: Age / Pregnancy:

Do not use in case of known hypersensitivity to ceftriaxone. Safe for breeding and lactating animal. No teratogenic effect was seen during studies in pregnant animals.

Always follow the recommended dose. It has no reported withdrawal side effects.

Withdrawal period: 7 days for milk and 28 days for meat
