Intacef Tazo PET injection combination of Ceftriaxone and tazobactam i.e. betalactamase inhibitor (antibiotic of third generation cephalosporin group) which has Gram -ive and Gram +ive activities both. Ceftriaxone crosses placental barrier and blood brain carrier, ceftriaxone level is much higher in CSF in case of meningitis. Tazobactum is effective in case of B-lactamase resistant bacterial infections.

Combipack of 562.50 mg with 5 ml sterile WFI 5 ml disposable syringe and 22G needle

Ingredients & Composition:

Each Intacef Tazo PET Injection Vial contains
Ceftriaxone Sodium IP equivalent to Ceftriaxone          500 mg
Tazobactam sodium equivalent to Tazobactam USP     62.5 mg

Indication / Uses:

Ceftriaxone Tazobactam / Intacef Tazo PET injection is indicated for/in
• Lower respiratory tract infections
• Acute bacterial otitis media
• Skin infection
• Bacterial septicaemia
• Bone and joint infections
• Intra-abdominal infections
• Surgical prophylaxis
• Meningitis
• Pelvic inflammatory disease

Dosage and administration:

Ceftriaxone Tazobactam / Intacef Tazo PET can be in given @15-25 mg/kg every 24 hours for 3 to 5 days

Route: Intramuscular, Intravenous

Species: Dogs and cats

Overdoses / Side effects / Contraindications /Warnings:

Overdose related side effects have not been mentioned by the manufacturer if happen can be monitored and treated symptomatically.

Dogs/ cats hypersensitive to ceftriaxone or cephalosporins may show an adverse reaction on administration. Do not use in pets with a history of allergic reaction towards ceftriaxone.

Pharmaceutical precautions / Instructions: 

Store in a cool and dry place at room temperature or below 25°C. Protect from light. Strictly for veterinary use.

Safety: Age / Pregnancy:

Do not use in case of known hypersensitivity to ceftriaxone. Safe for breeding and lactating animal (Std ref. Book).

Always follow the recommended dose. It has no reported withdrawal side effects.

Withdrawal period: 7 days for milk and 28 days for meat
