Description / Action:
Melosil oral suspension contains meloxicam which is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) drug used to treat Pain and inflammation in Rheumatic diseases and Osteoarthritis. It is recommended that it be used for as short a period as possible and at a low dose.
Pharmacodynamics:
Meloxicam inhibits prostaglandin synthetase (cyclooxygenase 1 and 2) enzymes leading to a decreased synthesis of Prostaglandins, which normally mediate painful inflammatory symptoms. As prostaglandins sensitize neuronal pain receptors, inhibition of the synthesis leads to analgesic and inflammatory effects.

Indication / Usage:
Meloxicam is used to relieve pain, inflammation, and fever in dogs and cats.
It is indicated for the treatment of osteoarthritis in dogs and cats.
It is also used to treat pain associated with surgery.
Dosage/ Administration:
For Dogs and Cats, Melosil oral suspension should be administered initially at 0.2 mg/kg body weight only on the first day of treatment. For all treatments after day one, and then a dose of 0.1 mg/kg. Treatment is to be continued at a 24-hour intervals. It should be given 3-5 days only and more than this should be given as per Veterinarian’s advice.
Directions for Use:
It is usually given once a day with or without food. Give meloxicam at the same time every day.

Overdosage / Side effects / Contraindications /Warnings:
The most common side effects of meloxicam in dogs are gastrointestinal upset, including vomiting, soft stools, and lack of appetite.
Do not use in pregnant or lactating dogs. Do not use in dogs suffering from gastrointestinal disorders such as irritation and hemorrhage, impaired hepatic, cardiac, or renal function, and hemorrhagic disorders.
Safety/ Pregnancy/ Age:
Do not use it in pregnant or lactating animals. Do not use in dogs less than 6 weeks of age.

Keep in a cool dry place at room temperature. Keep away from children. Shake well before use. Not for human use. For animal treatment only.
