Benzalkonium Chloride IP 0.1 mg (0.005%)

Description / Action:
Opthocare-GP Eye Drops is a combination of two medicines i.e. Gatifloxacin and Prednisolone. It is used to treat bacterial infections of the eyes such as conjunctivitis or pink eye. It stops bacterial growth causing infection and helps relieve pain, swelling, redness, itching or irritation in the eyes.
Gatifloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that kills certain types of bacteria and is used to treat eye infections including conjunctivitis and keratitis. Gatifloxacin ophthalmic solution is used to treat bacterial conjunctivitis (pinkeye; infection of the membrane that covers the outside of the eyeballs and the inside of the eyelids).
Prednisolone actetate ophthalmic suspension is a corticosteroid that is used to treat inflammatory problems of the conjunctiva, cornea, sclera and the anterior chamber of the eye.

Indication / Uses:
Opthocare GP eye drops are indicated for use in the following ophthalmic conditions in dogs and cats
• Conjunctivitis
• Keratitis
• Scleritis
• Uveitis
• Reduces inflammation and swelling
• Reduces swelling
Dosage and administration:
In mild to moderate inflammation 1-2 drops of medicament 2-3 times a day (or every 4 hours according to the severity of the condition).

Directions for use:
Shake the eye drops well just before each use. Wash your hands before using eye medication. Tilt pet’s head back slightly and pull down pet’s lower eyelid to create a small pocket. Do give 1-2 drop 2-3 times as per severity of infection.
Overdoses / Side effects / Contraindications /Warnings:
Side effects like blurred vision; eye redness: red, puffy or droopy eyelids, dry or watery eyes; feeling like something is in the eye, headache, or skin itching or rash.
Use with caution in case of corneal ulceration.
If irritation persists or increases discontinue the use and consult the veterinarian.
Once the nozzle is pierced do not touch the nozzle tip as this may contaminate the suspension.
Indiscriminate and prolonged use of the preparation may lead to glaucoma cataract and fungal infections.
Use the suspension within one month after opening the vial.
Pharmaceutical precautions / Instructions:
Store at 20°C to 25°C (68°F to 77°F) (see USP controlled room temperature). For topical ophthalmic use only.
Keep the container tightly closed. Protect from excessive heat.
Shake well before use. Not for human use. For veterinary use only. For external use. Not for injection. Keep out of reach of children.
Safety: Age / Pregnancy/ Withdrawal:
No age-specific restrictions. It contains steroid so outweigh the risk before use in pregnant animals.
