Ingredients & Composition:

Each Capsule Contains
Itraconazole       200 mg

Each tablet contains
Itraconazole       100 mg

Each ml or oral suspension contains
Itraconazole       20 mg/ml

Description: 

Itrapet tablets, capsules, and oral solution contain itraconazole; a most advanced gold standard oral anti-fungal for dogs and cats. It is better than other antifungals like fluconazole, ketoconazole, Griseofulvin, and terbinafine in terms of dosage duration and spectrum of fungal agents. It is a first choice antifungal drug for systemic fungal infections caused by Aspergillosis, Blastomycosis, Coccidioidomycosis, Cryptococcosis, Histoplasmosis, Pythiosis & Sporotrichosis. It has negligible liver toxicity in spite of long-term therapy due to the resilient behavior of fungus.

It works by inhibiting enzymes responsible for the production of ergosterol which is an important component of the fungal cell wall.

Indication / Uses:

It is indicated in dogs and cats for treatment of mightiest fungal infections like Superficial Fungal infections (skin, nails etc.) and Systemic Fungal infections caused by

•  Dermatophytosis (Ringworm)
•  Microsporum spp
•  Malasseziosis (Yeast dermatitis)
•  Blastomycosis
•  Histoplasmosis
•  Aspergillosis
•  Candidiasis
•  Sporotrichosis
•  Cryptoccocosis
•  Pythiosis
•  Coccidioidomycosis (Valley fever)

Doses and administration:

5-10 mg/kg body weight for 15 days cycle required 1-3 cycle (15 to 45 days)

Or use as prescribed by veterinarian.

Overdoses / Side effects / Contraindications /Warnings:

It offers lower incidence of side effect when compared with other medication of same class however mild nausea, hepatic toxicosis, decrease in appetite, vomiting and diarrhea are only incidentally reported.

Drug interaction:

H2 Blockers / Antacids, and Proton Pump Inhibitors (2 hrs gap can be made), glipizide, cyclosporine, cisapride & digoxin.

Store in a cool dark, and dry place. Protect from direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children. Not for human use. For animal treatment only.

Safety:

Not recommended for use in pregnant female dogs and in case of liver disease.
