Doxycycline Hyclate 100 mg / 300 mg

Description / Action:

Doxy Must tablet contains doxycycline hyclate which is a tetracycline antibiotic. It is used in the treatment of number of infections caused by Bacteria and Blood Protozoa like Tick Fever Treatment / tick-borne diseases or Lyme disease treatment, Toxoplasmosis, Erhlichiosis, Kennel cough and leptospirosis etc.

Class: Antibiotics / Tetracycline (Bacteriostatic)

Indications / Uses:

Doxy Must Tablet is indicated in:

• Tick borne rickettsial diseases Canine Monocytic Ehrlichiosis, etc)
• Mixed upper respiratory tract Infection (kennel cough)
• Leptospirosis
• Toxoplasmosis
• As pre-treatment to pathogenic microfilarial infection (dirofilaria immitis) in order to eliminate the symbiotic bacteria wolbachia

Doses and administration:

• Babesia canis Infection:

5mg/kg bwt every 12 hrs or 10mg/kg bw every 24 hrs, for 2-3 weeks

• Other susceptible Infections:

5-10mg/kg bwt daily for up to 5 days

*Doxy Must should be administered after food

Overdoses / Side effects / Contraindications /Warnings:

Adverse reactions or side effects are like vomiting, nausea and diarrhoea are common with doxycycline. Sometimes oesophagitis and oesophageal ulceration may develop.

In young animals it may cause poor bone growth and teeth discoloration. Do Not Administer in pets with dysphagia. Avoid administration with antacids & dairy based products.

Pharmaceutical precautions / Instructions: 

No such instructions. Normal pharmaceutical instructions.

Safety: age / Pregnancy:

Do not use in pregnant bitches (last 3 weeks of pregnancy) and in puppies (first month).
