Description / Action

Pimopulse oral suspension contains 1.5 mg/mL Pimobendan for dogs with MMVD, DCM and congestive heart failure. Precise liquid dosing for canine cardiac therapy.

Pimobendan is a dual-action inodilator that improves cardiac contractility through calcium sensitization and produces vasodilation through phosphodiesterase-III inhibition. The supplied folio describes it as a calcium sensitizer and PDE-III inhibitor that improves heart function while reducing cardiac workload.

Indication / Uses

Myxomatous Mitral Valve Disease (MMVD): Management of congestive heart failure in dogs.

Pre-clinical MMVD Stage B2: May delay onset of congestive heart failure in appropriately selected dogs.

Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM): Improves cardiac function and reduces fluid build-up.

Congestive Heart Failure: Used with appropriate concurrent therapy such as diuretics and ACE inhibitors.

Small/toy breeds: Liquid formulation allows precise weight-based dosing.

The FDA currently recognizes pimobendan for management of CHF associated with MMVD or DCM and, following its December 2025 approval, for delaying CHF onset in appropriately diagnosed Stage B2 MMVD dogs.

Dosage and administration:

Administer orally at a total daily dose of 0.5 mg/kg body weight, divided into two doses given approximately 12 hours apart.

For this 1.5 mg/mL suspension:

• • Total daily volume = 0.33 mL/kg/day
  • Approximate volume per dose = 0.17 mL/kg, twice daily.

Shake well before administration and use an accurately calibrated oral syringe.

Overdoses / Side effects / Contraindications / Warnings

Do not use in dogs with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, aortic stenosis, or conditions where an increase in cardiac output is inappropriate.

Accidental overdose may produce an exaggerated cardiac/hemodynamic response; keep the product out of reach of animals.

Reported adverse reactions include vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, anorexia, tachycardia, ataxia, dyspnea, arrhythmias and hypotension, among others.

Use only under veterinary supervision following appropriate diagnosis of the underlying cardiac disease.
