Description / Action

Cardisure Tablets contains 5 mg and 10 mg pimobendan for dogs with MMVD, DCM and congestive heart failure. Divisible tablets for precise twice-daily dosing.

Pimobendan is a dual-action cardiotonic/inodilator: it increases myocardial contractility through calcium sensitisation and produces vasodilation through PDE-III inhibition, thereby reducing both preload and afterload. Indication / Uses

• Myxomatous Mitral Valve Disease (MMVD): Management of congestive heart failure in dogs.
• Pre-clinical MMVD (Stage B2): Delays onset of CHF in appropriately diagnosed dogs.
• Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM): Improves cardiac function and helps reduce fluid build-up.
• Congestive Heart Failure: Used with appropriate concurrent therapy, including diuretics and ACE inhibitors.
• Small/toy breeds: Divisible tablets allow flexible weight-based dosing.

Dosage and administration

Daily dose: 0.5 mg pimobendan/kg body weight, divided into two daily administrations (0.25 mg/kg body weight each), approximately 12 hours apart.

Administer orally. The 5 mg and 10 mg tablets can be used in suitable combinations to achieve the required body-weight dose.

Overdoses / Side effects / Contraindications / Warnings

Do not use in dogs with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, aortic stenosis, or other conditions where an increase in cardiac output is inappropriate.

Accidental overdose can cause an exaggerated cardiovascular/hemodynamic response; store securely away from animals.

Reported adverse reactions include diarrhea, lethargy, anorexia, vomiting, cough, tachycardia, ataxia, dyspnea, convulsions, tremors, syncope and hypotension, among others.
