Description / Action: 

Pimocard Tablets contain Pimobendan which is a non-sympathomimetic, non-glycoside inotropic cardiac medicine having vasodilator effect.

Class: Inodilator (Cardiac Therapeutics)

Indication / Uses:

– For congestive heart failure in dogs due to atrioventricular valvular insufficiency (AVVI)
– Pimocard recommended to treat dilated cardiomyopathy
– Pimobendan is recommended for the management of mild to moderate or severe CHF (Modified NYHA class IIa, IIIb or IVc)
– Pimocard can delay the onset of CHF
– Treatment of MVD (Mitral Value Disease with pimobendan before on set of CHF.

Dosage and administration:

Dose = 0.2 to 0.6mg/kg/Dog Or 0.5 mg/kg daily is Conjunction with other Cardiac Drugs

10-20 kg = 1 x 2.5 mg Tablet Twice daily
20-30 kg = 1 x 5 mg Tablet Twice daily
30-40 kg = 2.5 + 5 mg Tablets Twice daily
40-60 kg = 2 x 5 mg Tablets Twice daily.

Overdoses / Side effects / Contraindications /Warnings:

In cases of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, aortic stenosis, or any other clinical situation where an increase in cardiac output is contraindicated for physiological or anatomical reasons, it should not be administered.

Use is restricted to canines who have been diagnosed with heart failure medically. Pimobendan produced an excessive hemodynamic response in the healthy canine heart when given at dosages of 3 and 5 times the advised amount over a period of six months, and this reaction was linked to cardiac pathology.

Pharmaceutical precautions / Instructions: 

Keep in a dry place. Store at temperature not exceeding 30°C. Protect from light.

For veterinary use. Not for human use.

Keep this medicine out of reach of children. Consultant physician in case of accidental injection by humans. Read the package insert before using the medicine.

Safety: Age / Pregnancy/ Withdrawal:

Not advise to the dog less than 6 months old even in pregnant or nursing dogs.
