Description: 

Vetina Levetiracetam tablets contain levetiracetam. Levetiracetam is a drug within the Pyrrolidine class. It is used to treat various types of seizures stemming from epileptic disorders.

Class: Anti-epileptics

Indication / Usage:

• Seizures & Epilepsy
• It is an anticonvulsant that works by decreasing abnormal activity in the brain helps to manage epilepsy in companion animals.
• Levetiracetam may be useful as an antiseizure medication in dogs that are not well controlled with phenobarbital and bromides or when either bromides or phenobarbital are not tolerated.
• In dogs suffering from phenobarbital toxicity, some evidence suggests that the addition of levetiracetam will allow reduction of their phenobarbital dosage without increasing seizure frequency.
• As add-on therapy in cats levetiracetam may also be useful.

Dosage and administration:

10 – 30 mg/kg body weight

Or As directed by Veterinarian (Dosage can be adjusted for maintenance therapy and pulse therapy. Avoid self-medication & Don’t use without supervision/ recommendation of a registered veterinary practitioner).

Overdoses / Side effects / Contraindications /Warnings:

Contraindicated in dogs and cats having the severe renal disease. The most common reported side effects are sedation, ataxia, reduced appetite, hypersalivation, and lethargy.
