Total T4 1.0-4.0 µg/dL 0.8-4.7 µg/dL
TSH 0.0-0.5 ng/ml 0.0-0.3 ng/ml
Criteria for confirmation of hypothyroidism = LOW Total T4+ HIGH TSH + clinical signs
Delayed diagnosis or untreated hypothyroidism may lead to
• Slow heart rate, weak apex beat,
• Weak pulse and low voltage on ECG
• Hypercholesterolemia
• Elevated serum creatinine
• Normochromic, normocytic anaemia
• Head tilt, disturbed/unsteady gait, facial paralysis

Dogs & Cats: 0.02-0.04 mg/kg/day
Dose can be given once or in two divided doses
Administration should be at least 1 hour prior to feeding

High Total T4 (>6 µg/dL) Dose to be decreased by 25%
Normal Total T4 (4-6 µg/dl) Dose correction not required
Low Total T4 (<4 µg/dL) Dose to be increased by 25%
