Description / Action: 

Serrasil Forte Tablets contain serratiopeptidase which is an organic, naturally processed proteolytic enzyme with researched anti-inflammatory mediating effects, to help support many normal body processes. It is an Anti-inflammatory and Mucolytic drug.

It is a proteolytic enzyme isolated from the microorganism, Serratia E-15. This immunologically active enzyme has powerful anti-inflammatory effects. It digests all dead tissues, blood clots, cysts, arterial plaque, and inflammation in all forms.

Pharmacodynamics:

The enzyme has its mode of action on the arachidonic acid pathway (COX I and COX II), and acts on the cyclooxygenase pathway, but not on the lipooxygenase pathway (LOX). It is synergestic with antibiotics.

Indication / Usage:

• Serratiopeptidase helps the body break down proteins, so it helps reduce inflammation and is indicated for all conditions of inflammation and edema.
• Serratiopeptidase is used for conditions such as muscular pain, joint pain, back pain, osteoarthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis.
• It is indicated for treating varicose veins and other circulatory disease in Dogs and Cats.
• For treating severe Ear infections along with antibiotics.
• For treating severe lung diseases such as Emphysema Asthma and Bronchitis.
• Prostate Enlargement
• Postoperative healing.
• The typical treatment durations of up to 1 week when used as an anti-inflammatory agent and up to 4 weeks when used as a mucolytic agent in severe bronchitis and Pneumonia.

Dosage/ Administration:

1-2 mg/kg b.wt. twice or thrice and the maximum daily dose is 60 mg for adult dogs.

For small – breeds and cats one tab daily.
Medium – size breeds two tablets daily.
Large – breeds three tablets daily.

Directions for Use:

It should be given a minimum two hours after food for better absorption and bioavailability.

Overdosage / Side effects / Contraindications /Warnings:

Generally, no side effects. Very rarely reported with Eosinophilic pneumonitis, bullous pemphigoid, or hemorrhage.

Avoid using in Pregnancy and lactation. It is very safe for young animals.
