Description / Action: 

Pooch Acepron tablets contain acepromazine maleate. Acepromazine is used as a tranquilizer for dogs & cats. Acepromazine helps the pet to release anxiety and stay calm. It acts on the central nervous system, thereby calming the animal. It acts as an aid in controlling excited animals during examination, treatment & grooming. It also prevents vomiting associated with motion sickness during road, rail & air travel.

Acepromazine is FDA approved veterinary sedative and tranquilizer medication. Launched for 1st time in the Indian market.

Dosage/ Administration / Feeding Directions:

In Dogs: 1.25 – 5 mg per kg body weight,

In Cats: 2.5 mg per kg body weight.

The dose can be modified as directed by the veterinarian according to use like premedication, sedation, restraint, anxiety or when being used in combination with other sedatives/drugs.

Onset of action: 30 minutes to one hour.

Overdosage / Side effects / Contraindications /Warnings:

Acepromazine is not indicated in dogs and cats suffering from shock, trauma or cardiovascular diseases. Contraindicated for use in case of liver diseases and pets younger than 3 months. Boxer breed of dogs is sensitive for side effects.

May cause hypotension and additive sedation in combination with other sedatives like phenothiazines, and barbiturates. Refer to package insert for more details.
