Description / Action: 

Grapitail Tablets contain grapiprant a non-Cox inhibiting NSAID for the management of chronic pain in dogs. GRAPITAIL has a unique mechanism of action. It is a first-line choice in the management of Canine osteoarthritis. It inhibits EP4 that is one of the target receptors for PGE2 which is the most abundant PG in synovia & is a key mediator of inflammation and pain.

Blocking of EP4 results in reducing the production of proinflammatory mediators, Reduces vasodilation, and Decreases vascular permeability (swelling).

It does not pose possible complications like Gastrointestinal Damage (Bleedings), Increased blood pressure, Renal Failure and Stroke-Myocardial Problems which are caused by Long-term use of COX Inhibitor NSAIDS like meloxicam, carprofen, firocoxib etc.

Dosage and administration:

2 mg/kg once daily

It should be given empty stomach (eg, in the morning) and at least one hour before the next meal, once daily at a target dose of 2 mg per kg body weight.

Route: For oral administration only

Species: Dogs only. Not recommended for cats.

Over-dosage / Side effects / Contraindications /Warnings:

In some cases, transient signs of GI disturbances can be observed after administration. Do not use in dogs less than 9 months of age and 3.6 kg body weight.

Safety: Age / Pregnancy/ Withdrawal:

It should not be given to pregnant, lactating or breeding dogs. Studies have suggested the safety of long-term oral administration (even with 25 times the recommended dose) of Grapiprant to dogs.
