Description / Action

PET-DOXYVAX Tablets 100/200/300 mg: contains doxycycline HCl + Lactic Acid Bacillus for broad-spectrum antibacterial therapy in dogs and cats.

Dosage and Administration

Recommended dosage is 10 mg/kg body weight once a day for 7 to 28 days or as directed by the veterinarian.

Overdose / Side Effects / Contraindications / Warnings

Gastrointestinal effects: Vomiting and gastrointestinal intolerance may occur with doxycycline.

Oesophageal injury: Doxycycline tablets/capsules can cause oesophagitis and, in severe cases, oesophageal stricture, particularly when tablets remain lodged in the oesophagus. This is an especially important consideration in cats.

Hypersensitivity: Doxycycline/tetracyclines should not be used in animals with known hypersensitivity to tetracyclines or the relevant formulation’s excipients.

Pregnancy/lactation:
Use should be based on veterinary risk-benefit assessment rather than assuming the product is universally safe.

Pharmaceutical Precautions / Instructions

Administer according to the veterinarian’s prescribed dose and duration.

For cats, do not dry-pill doxycycline tablets; follow the tablet with food or an adequate volume of liquid because doxycycline can cause oesophageal injury.

Accurate bodyweight measurement is important for appropriate dosing.

Complete the prescribed antimicrobial course unless the veterinarian changes the treatment plan.

Use antimicrobial therapy judiciously and, where clinically appropriate, consider culture and susceptibility testing.
