Description / Action: 

OSCINAP Eye Drops is a Veterinary formulation that combines 1% w/v N-acetyl carnosine (NAC) and 0.3% w/v Sodium Carboxymethylcellulose (SCMC).  It helps in the management of cataract, reduces lens opacity and improves vision in cloudy eyes of dogs and cats.

To determine the efficacy of a topical antioxidant formulation including N-acetyl carnosine in the treatment of canine cataract on 30 dogs of varying breeds and ages were included in a study and dogs were treated three times daily with N-acetyl carnosine eye drops.  Reduction in lens opacity was seen in eyes with mature cataract and owner evaluation suggested improvement in vision in 80% of cases.

N-acetyl carnosine (NAC)
• NAC is an antioxidant
• L-carnosine cannot penetrate the eye when applied as eye drop. NAC is able to penetrate the cornea and is then metabolized to form L- carnosine.
• L-carnosine is an anti-glycating agent & oxidative stress reducer. When used with a muco-adhesive agent like SCMC, N- acetyl carnosine has sustained action.

Sodium Carboxymethylcellulose (SCMC):
• SCMC is a lubricant and muco- adhesive.
• Eye lubricant
• Provides temporary relief from burning and discomfort due to the eye’s dryness by maintaining proper lubrication of the eyes and acting as a protectant against further irritation.

Indication / Uses:

• Helps to strengthen eye’s defence against free radicals
• Prevents progression of cataracts in cats & dogs

Dosage and administration:

Three times a day in dogs and cats or as directed by the veterinarian.

Over-dosage / Side effects / Contraindications /Warnings:

If irritation persists or increases discontinue the use of the product immediately and consult a veterinarian.

Do not touch the nozzle to any surface since this may contaminate solution.

Use the solution one month from opening the container.

Pharmaceutical precautions / Instructions: 

Store in a cool, dry and dark place below 25 degrees. Do not allow to freeze. Keep out of reach of children.
