Description: Hitek injection is ready to use 1.0% w/v sterile solution of Ivermectin. Ivermectin is isolated from the fermentation of the soil organism Streptomyces avermitilis. It is derived from the avermectins, a family of highly active, broad-spectrum antiparasitic agents.
Hitek is formulated to deliver the recommended dose level of 200 mcg/kg bodyweight. Ivermectin paralyzes and ultimately kills parasitic nematodes, arachnids, and insects by a unique effect on the nervous system of these parasites. Ivermectin is well tolerated at therapeutic doses, by livestock since it does not readily penetrate the central nervous system.
Provides reliable control of internal and external parasites. Kills internal and external parasites including worms, sucking lice, ticks, and mites.
Category: Macrocyclic lactone class of endectocides, Injectable parasiticide
Indication / Uses:
Hitek injection is the breakthrough injectable parasiticide for dogs, cats, cattle, sheep and camels. Ivermectin effectively controls internal and external parasites that impair livestock health and productivity.
Hitek contains ivermectin, a unique new chemical entity. Its convenience, broad-spectrum efficacy and wide safety margin make it an ideal product for parasite control in livestock and dogs.
Hitek injection is used for the treatment and control of internal and external parasites in cattle, sheep, dogs, and camels.
Hitek injection is indicated for the effective treatment and control of these parasites.

Ornithodoros savignyl
Hitek injection aids in the control of:
Biting lice: Damalinia bovis
Tropical Cattle Ticks:
Boophilus microplus, B. decoloratus
Mites:
Chorioptes bovis
Hitek injection given at the recommended dosage of 200 mcg/kg bodyweight effectively controls infection with Ostertagia spp. And Cooperia spp. acquired up to at least 7 days after treatment and Dictyocaulus viviparus acquired up to at least 14 days after treatment with Hitek injection. Ivermectin effectively controls infestation with larvae of the screw worm fly (Chrysomya bezziana) for 14 days following treatment.
In sheep:
Gastrointestinal roundworms:
Haemonchus contortus (adult and immatures), Ostertagia circumcincta (adult and immatures), O. trifurcata (adult and immatures), Trichostrongylus axei (adults), Nematodirus filicollis (adult and immatures), Cooperia certicei (adult and immatures), Oesophagostomum columbianum (adult and immatures), Oesophagostomum venulosum (adults), Charbertia ovina (both adult and immatures), Trichuris ovis (adults)
Lung worms
Dictyocaulus filaria (adult and immatures), Protostrongylus rufescens (adults)

Mange mites:
Sarcoptes scabei var. cameli
A single injection will markedly reduce the numbers of Sarcoptes scabei var. cameli and frequently lead to resolution of clinical signs of scabies. A second injection of Hitek given 15 days later, may be necessary to provide complete control.
Dogs and cats:
Gastrointestinal roundworms, Ticks, Lice, and Mites
Delivers broad-spectrum, efficacy, and duration of effect in a single injection.
When to treat cattle with grubs:
Hitek injection is effective against all stages of cattle grubs. However, proper timing of treatment is important. For most effective results against grubs, cattle should be treated as soon as possible after the end of the heel fly (warble fly) season. While this is not peculiar to Ivermectin, destruction of Hypoderma larvae (cattle grubs) at the period when these grubs are in vital areas may cause undesirable host-parasite reactions. Killing Hypoderma lineatum when it is in the esophageal tissue may cause bloat; killing H.bovis when it is in the vertebral canal may cause staggering or paralysis. Either before or after these stages of grub development the cattle should be treated against grubs.
Cattle treated with hitek injection for grub management after the end of the fly season may be treated with hitek injection during the winter for intestinal parasites, mange mites or lice, without danger of grub-related reactions. For further information and advice on a planned parasite control program, consult your veterinarian.
Dosage and administration:
Hitek injection may be given with any standard automatic or single-dose syringe.
Cattle and Camels
The recommended dose level is 1 ml (10 mg Ivermectin) per 50 kg body weight which should be given only by subcutaneous injection, using sterile instruments. Inject Hitek under the loose skin in front of or behind the shoulder. For injection, a 16 gauge, 15, or 10 mm sterile needle is recommended.
Sheep:
The recommended dose volume is 0.5 ml per 25 kg bodyweight which should be given only by subcutaneous injection. The subcutaneous injection can be given in the loose skin behind the shoulder. In woolly sheep, be certain that the needle has penetrated the wool and skin before delivering the dose. As with any injection, aseptic techniques should be used.
Dogs and cats:
The recommended dose level is 1 ml per 50 kg body weight which should be given by subcutaneous route.

Environmental safety:
Studies conducted indicate that when ivermectin comes in contact with the soil, it readily and tightly binds to the soil. And it becomes inactive over time. Drug containers and any residual contents should be disposed off safely (e.g. by burying or incinerating) as free ivermectin may adversely affect fish and certain waterborne organisms.
Note to user:
Transitory discomfort has been observed in some livestock following subcutaneous administration. soft tissue swelling incidences are very low at the injection site. Activity suggesting pain, sometimes intense but usually transient, has been observed in some sheep. These reactions disappeared without treatment.
