Description / Action:

Navole Oral Suspension contains Pantoprazole 2 mg/ml, a proton pump inhibitor for dogs and cats used in gastric ulcers, GERD, gastritis and acid-related gastrointestinal disorders.

Palatable proton pump inhibitor in suspension form — effective treatment and prevention of gastric and duodenal ulcers, GERD and gastrin-secreting tumours with excellent patient compliance.

Pharmacology:

Pantoprazole irreversibly inhibits the gastric H+/K+-ATPase (proton pump) in parietal cells, suppressing both basal and stimulated gastric acid secretion. Acid suppression generally lasts longer than the plasma half-life because new proton pumps must be synthesized before acid secretion resumes.

Gastrin-Secreting Tumours (Gastrinoma): Management of hypersecretory conditions associated with gastrin-secreting tumours.

Aspiration Pneumonia Prophylaxis: Pre-operative gastric acid reduction before anaesthesia.

Helicobacter-Associated Gastritis: Adjuvant to triple antibiotic therapy for Helicobacter pylori-equivalent infections.

Dosage and administration:

Shake well before use and administer orally.

Overdoses / Side effects / Contraindications / Warnings:

Generally, well tolerated in dogs and cats.

Mild vomiting, diarrhoea, flatulence or decreased appetite may occasionally occur.

Long-term administration may reduce absorption of vitamin B12, magnesium and other nutrients.

Use cautiously in animals with severe hepatic impairment.

Hypersensitivity to pantoprazole or other proton pump inhibitors is a contraindication.

Long-term therapy should be periodically reassessed by the veterinarian.

Age: Suitable for dogs and cats under veterinary supervision.

Drug Interactions:

May reduce absorption of drugs requiring an acidic gastric pH.
