Description / Action:
Renal COMBI Powder for dogs and cats supports CKD management with phosphate binders, chitosan, sodium bicarbonate, probiotics, prebiotics and antioxidants
One powder. One scoop. Complete kidney support — Renal COMBI combines the phosphorus-binding power of Renal P and the toxin-fighting ingredients of Renal N into a single convenient daily powder.
Renal COMBI is a complete solution for kidney integrity containing calcium salts (phosphate binders), sodium bicarbonate and Lactobacillus acidophilus. Fructo-oligosaccharides, olive oil polyphenols, L. acidophilus and vitamins support antioxidant defence and normal renal functionality. It is a complementary feed for dogs and cats.
KEY HIGHLIGHTS
Reduces Uremic Toxins
Chitosan binds phosphorus AND nitrogen waste — reduces the toxic burden on failing kidneys.
Controls Phosphorus & Acid Balance
Calcium carbonate + lactogluconate bind dietary phosphorus; sodium bicarbonate corrects blood acidity.
Olive Oil Polyphenols — Kidney Antioxidant
Counteracts oxidative stress and reduces kidney-level blood pressure.
One Scoop Does Everything
Replaces using two separate kidney powders — controls phosphorus, reduces toxins and provides antioxidant protection all at once.
Vitamins B6, B12, Folic Acid & Vitamin C
B vitamins stimulate red blood cell production; Vitamin C reduces stress from free radicals.
The above wording is retained from the uploaded product folio.
Class:
Veterinary renal nutraceutical / complementary feed / phosphate-binding and renal-support supplement
Indication / Uses:
Complete CKD Management: All Stages: Convenient single-product management for pet owners managing chronic kidney disease daily.
High Phosphorus (Hyperphosphatemia): Calcium salts bind dietary phosphorus before it is absorbed — directly protecting for kidney health
Metabolic Acidosis: Sodium bicarbonate restores correct blood pH — prevents acid damage to remaining kidney cells.
High Uremic Toxins (Creatinine, Urea): Chitosan reduces absorption of nitrogen-containing waste — reduces toxic burden.
CKD-Related Oxidative Stress & Anaemia: Olive extract + vitamins protect kidney tissue and support red blood cell production.
From a clinical standpoint, Renal COMBI should be regarded as supportive management, not a standalone treatment for CKD. IRIS recommends dietary phosphate restriction as a core component of CKD management, with enteric phosphate binders added when phosphorus remains above the desired target despite dietary management.
Dosage and administration:
0.2 g/kg body weight, with one small scoop per 2.5 kg and one large scoop per 10 kg.
Administration instructions:
Mix with the normal food ration.
The product blends best with moist food.
If feeding exclusively dry food, slightly moisten the food to improve powder adhesion and ensure complete intake.
The daily amount can be divided into 2–3 feedings according to the number of principal meals.
Fresh drinking water should always be available.
Overdoses / Side effects / Contraindications / Warnings:
Overdose:
Because Renal COMBI contains calcium-based phosphate binders, excessive administration should be avoided. IRIS notes that excessive doses of intestinal phosphate binders can cause adverse/toxic effects associated with absorbed cations, including calcium.
Side effects:
No specific adverse-effect profile is listed by the manufacturer.
During CKD management, monitor for gastrointestinal intolerance and changes in calcium/phosphorus status.
Contraindications / Important cautions:
Do not use in animals with known hypersensitivity to any component.
Calcium-containing phosphate binders require particular caution in patients with hypercalcaemia.
IRIS specifically notes that calcium-containing phosphate binders can contribute to hypercalcaemia and recommends monitoring serum ionized calcium when these products are used.
Do not use excessive doses in an attempt to obtain additional phosphate control.
Warnings:
Renal COMBI is a complementary feed and should not replace appropriate CKD management.
It should be used together with an appropriate renal dietary strategy where indicated.
Serum phosphorus should be monitored to assess whether phosphate control is adequate.
Serum calcium should also be monitored, particularly during long-term use of calcium-containing phosphate binders.
CKD patients require individualized treatment and regular monitoring. IRIS emphasizes that CKD treatment should be tailored to the individual patient and adjusted according to response.
Pharmaceutical precautions / Instructions:
For veterinary use.
Complementary feed for dogs and cats.
Mix with food.
Preferably mix with moist food for complete intake.
If using with dry food, slightly moisten the food before adding the powder.
Always provide fresh drinking water.
Store protected from light, in a cool and dry place and away from heat sources.
Not intended for human consumption.
Drug/food administration consideration:
Because the product contains intestinal phosphate-binding ingredients, it should be administered with food, as specified by the product information. Phosphate binders work by binding dietary phosphorus in the gastrointestinal tract; IRIS recommends administration around feeding to maximize their benefit.
Safety: Age / Pregnancy / Withdrawal:
Age:
For use in adult dogs and cats.
Pregnancy / Lactation:
Use during pregnancy or lactation should be based on veterinary assessment.
Withdrawal:
Not applicable for dogs and cats.
Monitoring during CKD treatment:
Serum phosphorus and calcium should be monitored during treatment. IRIS recommends reassessing phosphorus after dietary/phosphate-binding interventions and adjusting therapy according to the patient’s response.
Clinical evidence:
Published veterinary research has evaluated Renal COMBI in dogs with CKD. A recent study reported improvements in proteinuria, urea, hyperphosphatemia, blood pressure, oxidative stress and inflammation with the supplement when used alongside a renal diet; however, this evidence should be interpreted as supportive evidence and not as proof that the product independently treats or reverses CKD.
Substitute:
Closest formulation-based alternatives:
- Renal P — Candioli complementary feed containing calcium salts, chitosan and sodium bicarbonate; primarily provides phosphate-binding and alkalinizing support.
- Renal N — Candioli complementary feed containing Lactobacillus acidophilus, Olea europaea and fructo-oligosaccharides, providing antioxidant and intestinal-support components.
Other phosphate-binding products containing calcium carbonate, aluminium compounds or other phosphate binders are not direct substitutes because their composition, calcium exposure and dosing differ.
