Description / Action:

POOCH CARDILOCK Tablets contains Spironolactone and Benazepril tablets for dogs. Dual RAAS suppression therapy for congestive heart failure, mitral valve disease, dilated cardiomyopathy and fluid retention.

Dual RAAS suppression for advanced congestive heart failure — combining aldosterone antagonist and ACE inhibitor to reduce cardiac overload, fluid retention and neuroendocrine activation.

Indication / Uses

• Advanced Congestive Heart Failure (CHF): Stage C and D heart failure — reduces cardiac overload and neurohormonal activation.
• Mitral Valve Disease (Stage B2 and Beyond): When combined with furosemide and pimobendan per ACVIM guidelines.
• Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM): Adjunct to standard CHF therapy to optimise RAAS suppression.
• Fluid Retention & Oedema: Ascites, pleural effusion, pulmonary oedema associated with heart failure.

Dosage and administration

POOCH CARDILOCK is recommended to be given orally once daily at the following dose:

• • Benazepril: 0.25–0.50 mg/kg
  • Spironolactone: 2–4 mg/kg

Side effects

Vomiting
Diarrhoea
Reduced appetite
Lethargy
Polyuria/polydipsia
Hyperkalaemia
Mild azotaemia in susceptible patients

Contraindications

Severe renal failure with anuria.
Hyperkalaemia.
Hypersensitivity to spironolactone, benazepril or other ACE inhibitors.
Avoid concurrent use with potassium supplements unless specifically indicated.

Warnings

Monitor renal function and serum electrolytes before and during treatment.
Use cautiously in dehydrated or hypotensive patients.
Blood pressure monitoring is recommended during long-term therapy.
Dose adjustments may be required in renal insufficiency.
