Description & Mechanism of Action:
Feritas injection contains Iron Sorbitol citric acid complex, Folic acid and Hydroxocobalamin. Following intramuscular administration, the haemoglobin concentration in the blood and packed cell volume increase rapidly, especially in iron deficiency anaemia in animals. Iron after administration is absorbed rapidly and later transported from plasma by cells of the reticuloendothelial system and dissociated into iron and sorbitol. The released iron is immediately bound to protein moieties to form hemosiderin or ferritin or to a lesser extent transferrin. Majority of iron is absorbed within 72 hours post administration.
