Description / Action:
Felanorm Oral Solution contains methimazole, a thioureylene antithyroid drug used for the treatment of hyperthyroidism in cats.
It inhibits thyroid hormone synthesis by blocking thyroid peroxidase-mediated iodination of thyroglobulin, thereby reducing T3 and T4 production.
Rapidly absorbed after oral administration with peak plasma concentration achieved within 1–1.5 hours.

Indication / Uses:
Treatment of feline hyperthyroidism.
Helps control elevated thyroid hormone levels and associated clinical signs in cats.
Dosage and administration:
Initial dose: 2.5 mg orally every 12 hours.
Dose adjustment should be based on serum total T4 (TT4) levels and clinical response after 3 weeks.
Adjust dose in increments of 2.5 mg.
Maximum total dose: 20 mg/day divided doses; not more than 10 mg as a single dose.
Monitor hematology, biochemistry, and TT4 before therapy, at 3 and 6 weeks, then every 3 months.
Administer orally using the provided graduated dosing syringe.
Overdoses / Side effects / Contraindications /Warnings:
Common adverse effects: vomiting, anorexia, lethargy, diarrhea, skin lesions, facial pruritus, weight loss, anemia, elevated liver enzymes, thrombocytopenia.
Contraindicated in cats with hypersensitivity to methimazole/carbimazole, liver disease, renal failure, autoimmune disease, hematological disorders, coagulopathies, pregnancy, or lactation.
Overdose may cause severe gastrointestinal, hematological, hepatic, and dermatological reactions.
Use cautiously in cats with renal dysfunction.
Human exposure precautions required; methimazole is teratogenic. Gloves should be worn while handling.
May interact with anticoagulants, phenobarbital, benzimidazole anthelmintics, beta-blockers, digitalis glycosides, and theophylline.
Pharmaceutical precautions / Instructions:
Store at controlled room temperature 25°C (77°F).
Permitted excursions: 15°–30°C (59°–86°F). Keep container tightly closed.
Rinse dosing syringe after use. Keep out of reach of children and animals.
Safety: Age / Pregnancy / Withdrawal:
Not recommended in pregnant or lactating queens. Safety not evaluated in breeding male cats.
Veterinary prescription drug for cats only. No withdrawal period applicable for companion animals.
