Ingredients & Composition:

Per dose of 1.0 ml Canvac R vaccine contains inactivated strains of:

Rabies virus not less than 2 IU

Adjuvant: Aluminium hydroxide gel 1.4 – 6.5 mg

Excipients: thiomersal Not More Than 0.1 mg

Description / Action: 

Canvac R is injectable liquid vaccine containing inactivated rabies virus for active immunization of dogs, cats including other carnivores, even-toed ungulates and odd-toed ungulates against rabies.

Indication / Uses:

Canvac R is indicated for Active immunization of target species against

  • Rabies

Dosage and administration:

The immunization dose is 1 ml, irrespective of species, breed, age, sex and weight. Cats, dogs, fur-coated animals, cattle, sheep, goats and horses should be administered sub-cutaneously (s.c.). Pigs are immunized intramuscularly (i.m.) at the site of the neck, behind the ear.

Vaccine Canvac R can be used instead of solvent with all lyophilized vaccines.

Vaccination Programme:

In carnivores that come from immunized mothers and received colostrum is recommended to administer one dose to youngsters at the age of approximately 5 months. It is advisable to administer the first dose to youngsters, born to unvaccinated mothers, at the age of 1 month approximately. In case where youngsters are vaccinated within the age of 5 months, it is advisable to administer the second dose after 4-6 weeks

  • Administer the second dose to young animals of unknown origin 2-4 weeks after the first dose, regardless their colostral immunity and age.

It is advisable to administer one dose to youngsters of the even-toed and odd-toed animals after disappearance of colostral immunity, depending on the animal species, mostly at the age of 3-9 months.

To youngsters born to unvaccinated mothers is advisable to administer the first dose at age of approximately 2 months. It is advisable to administer the second dose after 2-4 weeks.

Re-vaccination:

Administration of one dose of Canvac R is sufficient to obtain immunity in adult animals. Regular annual revaccination is advisable to maintain the persistent immunity.

Onset and Duration of immunity: Sufficient immunity develops over 2 to 3 weeks after the primary vaccination. After re-vaccination, the immunity persists for at least 1 year.

Overdoses / Side effects / Contraindications /Warnings:

Do not use Canvac R vaccine acute infectious disease, organ disease or feverish disease. Don’t use in known history of an unfavourable post vaccination reaction or allergy at former vaccinations and after stress imposed on animals (transportation, high environmental temperatures). Don’t use rabies vaccine Cavac R in animal having advance pregnancy or just after parturition.

It is forbidden to immunize rabid animals or animals, which have been in contact with or hurt by animals suffering from rabies. Animals, which injured the man, may be immunized only after the period of observation has elapsed.

Pharmaceutical precautions / Instructions: 

The vaccine must be between 2 °C and 8 °C. Do not freeze.  For animals only. Veterinary medicinal product to be supplied only on veterinary prescription.

Safety: Age / Pregnancy/ Withdrawal:

Safe for use in puppies and kittens at early age. Do not use in pregnant animals in advance stage of pregnancy and close after whelping/parturition.
