Presentation:

15 mg/mL oral solution supplied with dosing syringe.

Ingredients & Composition:

Each mL contains velagliflozin equivalent to 15 mg/mL (as velagliflozin L-proline H₂O complex) in an aqueous mixture of propylene glycol and ethanol.

Description / Action:

SENVELGO Oral Solution contains velagliflozin, a selective Sodium-Glucose Co-Transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor for management of diabetes in cats.
Reduces renal glucose reabsorption.
Increases urinary glucose excretion.
Lowers blood glucose independently of insulin.
Provides glycemic control in newly diagnosed diabetic cats.
Once-daily oral administration improves treatment compliance.

Class: SGLT2 Inhibitor / Oral Antidiabetic Agent

Indication / Uses:

Improvement of glycemic control in otherwise healthy cats with diabetes mellitus.
For diabetic cats not previously treated with insulin.
Management of feline diabetes mellitus with convenient oral therapy.

Dosage and administration:

Dose: 0.45 mg/lb (1 mg/kg) body weight orally once daily.
Administer directly into the mouth or with a small amount of wet food.
Do not mix into food.
Give at approximately the same time every day.
If vomiting occurs within 30 minutes after dosing, the dose may be repeated.
Use only the supplied dosing syringe and round dose down to nearest pound body weight.

Overdoses / Side effects / Contraindications /Warnings:

Common adverse effects: diarrhea, loose stool, vomiting, weight loss, polyuria, polydipsia, elevated BUN, ketonuria, dehydration, anorexia, and hypersalivation.
Serious adverse effect: diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) and euglycemic diabetic ketoacidosis (eDKA), which may be fatal.
Contraindicated in cats previously treated with insulin, currently receiving insulin, or with insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus.
Do not initiate in cats with anorexia, lethargy, dehydration, ketonuria, ketonemia, pancreatitis, cachexia, chronic diarrhea, elevated bilirubin (>0.5 mg/dL), or creatinine >2 mg/dL.
Discontinue immediately if ketonuria or signs of DKA/eDKA develop.
Use caution in cats with renal impairment.
Not for human use.

Pharmaceutical precautions / Instructions:

Perform CBC, serum chemistry, fructosamine, urinalysis, and ketone screening before treatment.
Monitor ketones at 2–3 days and approximately 7 days after initiation.
Evaluate glycemic control at weeks 1 and 4.
Monitor blood glucose, fructosamine, ketones, body weight, hydration status, and serum chemistry routinely.
Store bottle tightly closed and use dosing syringe provided.
Keep out of reach of children and animals.

Safety: Age / Pregnancy / Withdrawal:

Safety not established in breeding, pregnant, or lactating cats.
Not evaluated with concurrent insulin or other glucose-lowering agents.
No withdrawal period applicable for companion animals.
