Description / Action: 

Ronvac is an inactivated vaccine containing the 3 core viruses – feline panleucopaenia virus, feline herpesvirus type 1 (rhinotracheitis), and feline calicivirus. Ronvac vaccine is exclusively for feline patients.  Indicated for high-risk animals, such as those who live in shelters or have access to the street. It provides protection against the Feline Respiratory Complex (responsible for over 80% of diseases of the upper respiratory tract in cats).

Rhinotracheitis

The Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis is a disease of the upper respiratory tract caused by feline herpesvirus 1 (HVF1) extremely frequent, contagious, and is part of the Complex Feline Respiratory. The majority of cats that recover from infection become asymptomatic carriers, that is, they host the virus in the body in a latent form and can eliminate it in the environment, with or without symptoms. Possibly, stress situations such as surgery, diseases, hosting and hospitalization in clinics are sufficient to virus replication, recurrence of symptoms, and dissemination.

Panleukopenia

The feline Panleukopenia is a disease caused by feline parvovirus and transmitted by contact with the feces or environment and objects contaminated by secretions. It is an infectious disease of high morbidity and mortality, with a quick course and that affects mainly young cats from 3 to 6 months of age.

Calicivirosis

The feline calicivirosis is an infection caused by Calicivirus, one of the responsible for causing the Feline Respiratory Complex, along with the Herpesvirus 1. It is highly contagious and transmitted by contact between healthy and sick animals and through contaminated objects.

Indication / Uses:

Ronvac is indicated for active immunization of healthy cats against

• Feline Panleucopaenia Virus (FPLV),
• Feline Herpes Virus (FHV) And
• Feline Calicivirus (FCV).

Dosage and administration:

Administer 1 mL dose per animal, intramuscularly or subcutaneously, regardless of race and weight.

Primary course vaccination

Cats must be vaccinated after 60 days of age. Should be revaccinated again after 30 days. A third recommended dose is 30 days after the second dose.

Revaccination

For adult animals previously vaccinated, revaccinate annually, to have a better immune response.

Unvaccinated adult animals: Revaccinate annually.

The vaccination protocol recommended follows the WSAVA´s guidelines, with the last dose performed at 16 weeks of life or more;

Overdoses / Side effects / Contraindications /Warnings:

Like other vaccines anaphylactic or hypersensitivity reactions may occur which can be treated accordingly.  Kittens above 60 days must be vaccinated.

Pharmaceutical precautions / Instructions: 

The vaccine must be stored in the original container between 2 °C and 8 °C. Protect from light. Do not freeze.

Safety: Age / Pregnancy/ Withdrawal:

Ronvac vaccine is safe for use in kittens from 60 days of age.  Safe in pregnant and lactating queens/cats. Vaccinate healthy kittens or cats only.

Habit forming:  No, But Protocol should be followed according to the guidelines to achieve immunity.
