Nobivac Lepto is a bivalent, inactivated vaccine for the immunization of dogs against leptospirosis caused by Leptospira canicola and Leptospira icterohaemorrhagiae. Nobivac Lepto is a liquid vaccine that can be used for reconstitution of freeze-dried Nobivac canine vaccines (eg. Nobivac DHPPi + Lepto 1). This combination of vaccines allows vaccination for up to 6 different infectious diseases in one go. Nobivac Lepto can be used alone without mixing with other compatible vaccines.
The majority of the cases of Leptospirosis are chronic or subclinical in nature but can be acute and potentially fatal in dogs. Infected dogs can harbour the bacteria in their kidneys. In many chronic cases of leptospirosis, the immune system is unable to clear the infection completely and remains persistent. This results in the shedding of the bacteria in the urine. Such Infected dogs can be a potential source of infection for other dogs and can shed Leptospira in this way for months. The risk of leptospirosis also extends to humans due to its zoonotic potential. Nobivac Lepto inhibits renal shedding to reduce the risk of zoonotic spread.
