Vitamin C is one of the safest and biggest immune system boosters of all time. Vitamin C helps your immune health in several ways. lts antioxidant activity can decrease inflammation, which may help improve your immune function Vitamin C also boosts the activity of phagocytes, immune cells that can “swallow” harmful bacteria and other particles. Vitamin C promotes the growth and spread of lymphocytes and increases circulating antibodies. There’s also some evidence from animal research and case studies in humans that a high dose of vitamin C can reduce lung inflammation in severe respiratory illnesses caused by viruses.

Vitamin D plays important roles in addition to its classic effects on calcium and bone homeostasis. Vitamin D plays a critical role in promoting immune response. It has both anti-inflammatory and immunoregulatory properties and is crucial for the activation of immune system defenses. As the vitamin D receptor is expressed on immune cells (B cells, T cells, and antigen-presenting cells), and these immunologic cells are all capable of synthesizing the active vitamin D metabolite. It acts in an autocrine manner in a local immunologic milieu. Vitamin D has the capacity of modulating the innate and adaptive immune responses. Vitamin D deficiency is associated with increased autoimmunity and increased susceptibility to infection.

Zinc is an essential trace minerals, Zinc deficiency is recognized as a worldwide problem. It is associated with skin disease, increased susceptibility to infections, and poor immune function. The remarkable importance of this nutrient is due to its important function in the structure of more than 3,000 proteins, facilitated by the remarkable stability of its Zn2+ ion. Zinc is known to play a central role in the immune system, and zinc-deficient dogs experience increased susceptibility to a variety of pathogens. Zinc modulates increased susceptibility to infection. It is clear that zinc helps multiple aspects of the immune system, from the barrier of the skin to gene regulation within lymphocytes. For normal development and function of cells mediating nonspecific immunity such as neutrophils and natural killer cells, zinc is very essential. Zinc is vital in the fight against infection and by doing so helps balance the immune response.

Glycyrrhiza glabra root is called “Licorice”. The principal constituent is glycyrrhizin, which is present in different varieties in a concentration of 2-14% and sweet in taste. This principle is not found in the aerial parts of the plant. Constituents like glucose (up to 3.8%), sucrose (2.4-6.5%), mannite, starch (30%), asparagine, bitter principles, resins (2-4%), a volatile oil (0.03-0.035%) are also present in licorice. Historically, Licorice and its extracts have been used in China and Japan to treat chronic viral hepatitis. In vitro experiments, glycyrrhizin inhibited certain pathogenic viruses by an undetermined mechanism. Inhibition of viral binding to host cell membranes and viral replication, as well as interference with cellular signal transduction, have been suggested. Animal and human studies suggest Licorice enhances immunostimulation and increases macrophage (white blood cells that ingest antibodies) which combats infection.

Curcuma longa (Turmeric)’s principal constituent is curcumin, which Exhibits strong anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities. Traditionally it is known for its anti-inflammatory effects.  Curcumin is a potent immunomodulatory agent that can modulate the activation of T cells, B cells, macrophages, neutrophils, natural killer cells, and dendritic cells. Phyllanthus Emblica (Indian Gooseberry) – The fruit is an extremely rich source of vitamin C (ascorbic acid), minerals, and amino acids. It contains three times vitamin C (ascorbic acid) concentration and the protein concentration than the apple. Emblic Myrobalan is a very useful antioxidant to support normal oxidative stress levels during the body’s natural aging process. The dominant active constituent of the herb is a group of tannins which make up a large portion of the extractable non-nutritive constituents.
