Description: 

SELAMEC is indicated to treat and prevent various parasitic infestations including both ecto and endo-parasites. Selamectin is effective against fleas, ticks, mites lice, heartworms, hookworms, and roundworms of dogs and cats.

Mechanism of action:

Selamectin interacts with GABA and glutamate-gated channels and leads to flaccid paralysis of parasites.

• Selamectin enters the parasite through pores on the cuticle.
• Closed Glutamate gated Chloride channel (Pharyngeal & extra pharyngeal neuronal membranes).
• Selamectin binds to the Glu. Cl. channel and opens the pore.
• The concentration of chloride ion increase within the neuronal cell.
• Cause Hyperpolarization and ultimately death of the parasite.

Dosage and administration:

The recommended minimum dose is 6 mg of selamectin per kg of body weight.

Pipette for respective species and body weight forms a single dose for application. It is recommended for topical use in dogs and cats. For best effect apply SELAMEC as recommended in the insert. The highest concentration of selamectin is achieved within 70 hours of application.

Safety: Age / Pregnancy/ Withdrawal:

Not recommended for use in dogs less than 6 weeks of age and cats less than 8 weeks of age.
