Description / Action:

Nobivac Puppy DP is an injectable live attenuated vaccine for the active immunization of young puppies against the most common and deadly diseases in puppies i.e. canine distemper and parvovirosis and provides broad coverage against them.

The efficacy of the Canine Distemper virus and Canine Parvo Virus components of the vaccine may be reduced due to maternal antibody interference. A virulent challenge in the presence of maternal antibody levels to Canine Distemper Virus, Canine AdenoVirus 2, and Canine ParvoVirus that are likely to be encountered under field conditions, Nobivac Puppy DP vaccine has proven to be of benefit. It protects against all known field strains of parvovirus. Nobivac Puppy DP overrides maternal antibodies in young puppies.
Experience has shown that the maternal parvovirus antibody status of pups within a litter varies greatly that’s why a serological examination of the bitch alone is not reliable.

The reaction of a fully competent immune system to an immunogenic agent helps in a good immune response. Poor storage conditions or administration of the vaccine by inappropriate route will reduce the immunogenicity of the antigen.
It is a High antigenic mass (titer) and low passage parvovirus vaccine with a High titer distemper fraction.  A wide number of factors like including nutritional status, poor health, concurrent drug therapy, genetic factors, and stress may compromise the immunocompetence of the animals.

Class: Biologicals / Dog Vaccine

Indication / Uses:

Nobivac Puppy DP is indicated for active immunization of healthy puppies against

  • Canine distemper virus, and canine parvovirus infection.

Dosage and administration:

Allow the diluent to reach room temperature. Aseptically mix the sterile Nobivac diluent and reconstitute one vial of Nobivac Puppy DP and inject subcutaneously. Reconstituted vaccine should be used within 30 minutes.

  • Initial 1 mL dose given by subcutaneous or intramuscular route to healthy puppies at 4-6 weeks of age, preferably before weaning.
  • Until 12 weeks of age, 1 ml booster dose should be given 3 to 4 weeks apart.
  • Dogs older than 12 weeks of age should initially receive 2 doses 3-4 weeks apart.
  • Annual revaccination with 1 dose is recommended
  • Puppies those, who have been vaccinated with Nobivac Puppy DP should be further immunized with Nobivac DHPPi, 3 to 4 weeks later.

The vaccine should be administered by subcutaneous injection in the neck or chest region using aseptic precautions.

Vaccination Programme:

Puppy DP vaccine can be used at 6weeks of age followed by Nobivac DHP/DHPPi at 10 weeks of age. The vaccination programme can be completed from a minimum age of the 10 weeks. Always vaccinate healthy dogs, and an adequate clinical examination should be made prior to inoculation. All of the Nobivac vaccines fit into a larger overall vaccination programme. The individual’s age, health (including maternal immunity), and local environmental conditions should be considered in the formulation of a vaccination programme.

Primary vaccination:

A first dose of the Nobivac Puppy DP vaccine may be given to puppies from 6 weeks of age, but because maternally derived antibodies can interfere with response to vaccination, a final dose of the vaccine should be given 4 weeks later i.e. at 10 weeks of age or older. If the first dose is given at 10 weeks of age or older, only one dose is required.

Booster vaccination:

Dogs should be revaccinated every one year or 3 years depending upon the community and country guidelines.

Onset and Duration of immunity: The onset of immunity is one week following administration. The antigens of Nobivac Puppy DP have been shown to protect against CDV and CPV for at least three years.

Overdoses / Side effects / Contraindications /Warnings:

Occasionally a mild anaphylactic – type hypersensitivity reaction may occur after vaccination. This type of reaction can occur after the injection of any foreign protein and is, in most cases, self – limiting. Only healthy dogs should be vaccinated, and an adequate clinical examination should be made prior to inoculation.

Sterile injection equipment should be used for administration. Care should be taken to avoid contamination of a vaccine with traces of disinfectant or spirit.

Avoid intravenous injection. A diffuse swelling up to 5mm in diameter following subcutaneous administration may be observed at the site of injection. Sometimes this swelling may be painful and hard and may last up to 3 days post-injection.

A transient rise in body temperature in some rare cases may occur.
Hypersensitivity reactions are rare, but as with all vaccines, may occasionally be encountered. In such an event, administration of an antihistamine, corticosteroid or adrenaline by the most immediate route may be indicated.

Strictly avoid mixing of Nobivac Puppy DP with other vaccines. Nobivac Puppy DP is Compatible for concurrent use with Nobivac DHP.
